Nepal Tourism Year 2011 will be bandha free
Prime Minster Madhav Kumar Nepal inaugurated the Nepal Tourism Year 2011 by lighting a lamp brought from Lumbini, the birth-place of Gautam Buddha, in a special ceremony organized at the Nepal Army pavilion in Tundikhel, Kathmandu.
Various political parties, including the main opposition Unified CPN (Maoist), have given written commitment to avoid strikes and bandhas in 2011 for the success of the Nepal Tourism Year 2011. 16 political parties including Unified CPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala and CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal have expressed their written commitment to end bandh, strikes and any kind of activities that will have negative impact on the successful organization of NTY-2011.
