Gulmi bandh: wraths against govt hit commoners

THT Online

Due to the imposed bandh called by the four student unions, long and short route vehicles to and from the district have been brought to a grinding halt while market areas, academic institutions, and industries have also been completely shut down.

Students in Kathmandu are also planning to hold a torch rally on Tuesday and enforce a Valley bandh on Wednesday against the price hike.

Student unions in Dang also called one hour transportation shutdown in bid to protest the hike in petroleum products, on Tuesday morning.

The student unions have been pressing the government to roll back its decision on the hike in fuel prices—Rs 175 in LP gas, Rs 10 per litre in petrol and Rs 9 per litre in diesel and kerosene.

Meanwhile, Commerce and Supplies Minister Lekhraj Bhatta has been saying that the government cannot sell peroleum products purchased at higher rates at lower rates.

The government had hiked the fuel prices effective from January 13.
