Heard of the Peace Rally the other night. Understood that there was not going to be a rally due to security reasons. Was determined to participate against family advice that the whole thing was going to be used for some other purpose. Walked to Kupondole. Was stopped. Chased. Separated from friends who walked with me. Made it through to the other side. Happy to reach Basantapur. When everyone started walking, I joined in. I didn't want to be politically correct at that moment. I wanted everyone to know that I wanted peace. Got stopped at Exhibition road. My young cousins were enjoying the sit in and even singing and dancing like our fellow revolutionaries had been doing. Some voices of rage.. hadn't seen those faces earlier. More near clashes. I try n take my cousins to a lil safer place. But right then, everyone runs. I fear there'll be stampede. But the gate to Bhrikuti Mandap is open. With Tear gas on both sides, that was the safest bet. Find all cousins there and take them home. As we enter the Shortcut between the tundikhel/ratnapark, we see raging red charging to the whites and hear shells of tear gas in the backdrop.. bang bang bang.. a peace rally it was. peaceful it wasn't.
